We return to Wexford Harbour for a relaxing rally on the Slaney River and Estuary (with the possibility of extending the event to a coastal cruise along the east or south coasts). The event will be hosted by the Wexford Harbour Boat and Tennis Club, and run as a joint event with the Slaney Branch of the IWAI. Hardstand camping and motorhome facilities will be available at the club. This event was a great success when last held in 2017 (The Drascombe 30/50 Anniversary with the “Grand Fleet Rally), with 17 Drascombes boats, 5 Non-Drascombes, and over 40 participants.

Jul 14 '23Carlingford Lough
Based at Carlingford Sailing Club, see Website Friday 14th, arrival and launch, social evening at the Sailors Cabin, a barbecue will be lit, bring your own food. The Cabin has a small kitchen which can also be used to cook. Saturday 15th, we will explore the Lough as tides and weather permit returning to the club for another social evening at the Sailors Cabin.
Note, Club racing boats will be using the slip from around 10 am until 2 pm so Saturday arrivals will need to be aware of this. Sunday 16th, we will go exploring again, returning to the club in time for hauling out before low tide for those leaving. Anyone wanting to take an extra day or so is welcome to stay on. Some of us will make plans for a Feeder Cruise to the Strangford Lough event the following weekend, weather permitting. If weather does not permit a cruise, there are plenty of ways to pass a few days in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in between the two events. Camping space, shower and toilet acilities at the club. Boats can be moored or anchored in the harbour which will dry out for an hour or so around low water. We will have some dinghies to use for ferrying.

Jun 24 '23Inclusivity Games
The Wexford Harbour Boat and Tennis Club (hosts of two previous Drascombe Rallies, and another in August this year, see below) are this year hosting the "Watersports Inclusion Games" which will be held on June 24th and 25th. The Watersports Inclusion Games is a free event that encourages people of all abilities/disabilities from the physical, sensory, intellectual & learning spectrums, and those experiencing barriers accessing mainstream activities, to get involved in watersports . The event is aimed at young people but caters to all age groups. Participants can get involved in many different forms of watersports including kayaking, canoeing, sailing, powerboating, and waterskiing. We are looking for volunteer Drascombe Sailors to come along, with or without their boats (some Drascombe boats already in the club), to take participants on short sails in Wexford Harbour to introduce them to sailing, on one or both days. All participants will be accompanied by their own helper / assistant, so no additional safeguarding / vetting required. Boat launching and mooring facilities, as well as camping / motorhome facilities, will be provided by the WHBTC, assisted by the IWAI Slaney Branch. The Inclusion Games are promoted by the Irish Sailing Association, and were held last year on Lough Derg, and prior to that (pre-Covid) in Kinsale, Dublin and Galway. This event represents an opportunity for Drascombe sailors to give back to the community in a fun and enjoyable way. Please contact John Tully (jtdisc537@gmail.com) if you can help!
