Report

The sixth biannual Drascombe Rally took place at Baltimore from 10th to 13th of August. Thirty boats and 80 crewmembers took part in the rally, with sailors from the UK Ireland Corsica and Germany enjoying socializing and sailing over three days and nights. After a late night toasting the Algierians who visited 375 years ago, the fleet sailed the long way to the Island of Skeim East, where we barbecued and swam on the small beach. Saturday night was rathr quiet for some reason, most having hit the bunk by midnight. On Saturday the destination was Cape Clear Is, four boats heading on to the Fastnet Rock under ideal conditions. All gathered in the sunshine in the south harbour to relax prior to sailing home for the rally dinner in Baltimore SC. During the dinner the rally perpetual trophy was awarded to Declan Tiernan, the founder of the rally, in recognition of his ten years as principal organizer of this event, with achievements of individuals over the weekend being recognised in an appropriate way. The sing song went on..........

On Sunday, the destination was Horseshoe Bay in Sherkin Is, in fresh breeze. The views of Baltimore harbour were enjoyed from the lighthouse and an easy picnic ashore for all.
All in all, a mighty weekend!
